Easier to use than a rubber stamp since there's no need for a stamp pad. And it's manufactured with the latest technology so that the imprint is razor sharp.

Note: The primary purpose for using this stamp is to make sure that students are mastering skills and not "slipping through the cracks."

Unfinished Assignment stamp

For those times when students did not complete an assignment in the alloted time due to poor work skills or self-control, I will indicate this to the parents. It is critical that I keep parents apprised of their children's progress, or lack thereof.

Although it's not always pleasant to share this information with parents, it's only fair I do so. I've found over the years that the more I communicate with parents, the more I want to. If, however, I hide from difficult situations at the beginning of the year, they just get worse. I end up wishing that I had done something sooner. This stamp provides me with the opportunity to open a dialogue in a timely fashion.

During independent work times, I have students tutoring as much as possible. Consequently, there will be times when the tutor is not able to complete his own assignment. (He wouldn't be tutoring if he hadn't already mastered the skill. Nonetheless, I'd still like him to complete the task at home and earn credit for it.) When this is the case, I cross out the parent signature requirement and indicate the reason the assignment hadn't been finished in class.

The circled comments in this sample indicate a student who needs help in mastering a new skill. Although the lesson was taught in class, this student still needs assistance. As I met with the student at the end of the day to stamp his paper, we would determine how he is going to receive help. If there is no one at home who can do it, then the student and I would arrange a time to sit together for the necessary reteaching.
