Remind101

If you haven't experienced Remind101 yet, do yourself a big favor and check out their website.

What is Remind101?
It's a free text/email service for teachers to communicate with the parents of their students. They provide you [the teacher] with a phone number and an access code. You share the sign-up info with the parents so that they can subscribe to your classroom feed. [They even provide you with a letter you can make available to the parents.]

The bonus feature--other than the fact that it's FREE--is that the messaging is a one-way deal. It only goes from you to them. Nothing comes back your way. And, sensibly, no contact information is revealed or shared. Everything is kept anonymous by the good folks at Remind101.

If you'd like to see what the parents of your students will see when they sign up for your messages, sign up for mine. [The information about how to sign up is shown below.]

I'm thinking that Remind101 has both a great tech vibe and a commendable ease-of-use interface. What's not to like about that? At the moment, the early betting line indicates that Remind101 is going to become somewhat indispensable before too long.

So I'm going to take it for a test drive. Put on some miles. Maybe kick the tires. We'll see.

My instincts are telling me that the New Mgmt feed I recently created as a Remind101 class is going to be a winner. And as I continue to use it, I'll figure out some new ways to get more out of it. [And, thus, the need for a feed.] I can almost guarantee it's going to get better and better.

Bottom Line: The New Mgmt 101feed will be a simple way to keep teachers informed about the new projects and strategies I'll be working on this year.

And for that, I thank the good folks at Remind101.

New Mgmt 101feed Spoiler Alerts

1. Technology in the classroom is going to be a major focus with music getting the lion's share of attention.

2. I'm looking for a dozen or so teachers to each submit a playlist using music available on the FreePlayMusic website. [A 5-song playlist with track names and volume names is all that I need. I'll pass along the info in a series of Sound Project 2014 newsletters.]

Your submitted playlist should be comprised of music that is appropriate to play when students are working independently.

Footnote: As opposed to calling it independent work, I think we might want to switch to production mode. Work is what you do for someone else. The word production introduces a new perspective as to what should be going on in classrooms.
