Math Poems

Here are the math poems I've been sharing at seminars.

Rounding poem

Mark the place, look to the right.
Four or less, just sit tight.
Five and up, you add one more,
Now toss those "righties" out the door.
In those empty right-hand spaces,
Zeroes keep the proper places.

Subtracting poem

More on top?
No need to stop.

More on the floor?
Go next door.
Get ten more.

Mode, median, mean, and range
(Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

Mode, mode, mode the most,
Average is the mean.
Median, median, median, median,
The number in between.

Range is a tricky one,
He likes to hide around.
The difference between high and low,
Is how he can be found.

Another song for range
(Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho [whatever song that is])

High, low.
High, low.
Subtract for range
We know.
