"All Aboard!"
This sweet sound of this train whistle tells my students that we need to go somewhere.
At the sound, they:
Tip: For students who do not line up quietly outside, I have a "ticket line" where they are required to wait. The line is inside the room near the door. By keeping them in the room while the others line up outside in the prescribed manner, I'm able to maintain order of the loud and disorderly while protecting the students who are exercising control.
Within a day or two of having someone relegated to the line, I will return his train privileges. Students need to be given a chance to show they've learned a lesson and will henceforth demonstrate self-control. Loud again two days later? Back to the ticket line, buddy.
